Fyi I did kinda copied some of my comment on the other post Woodpeckers will use their bills in a variety of ways such as marking territory or making holes for nest but I'm sure some of this is already known. What isn't well known and is exceptionally weird is that this can end up damaging the bill to The point where the bills will start curving (image for reference) which of course leads to it is eventual death due to their inability to use their bills to get into trees.
